Lence is operated by Lence Labs LLC, a California limited liability company based in Sacramento, CA. We build and operate the Lence mobile application and website at lence.app. References to "Lence," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to Lence Labs LLC.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• University email address — used to verify your student status via your .edu domain. This is required to use Lence.
• Profile information — your name, graduation year, major, bio, lifestyle preferences (smoking, drinking, pets, sleep schedule), housing preferences (budget, room type, move-in date, distance from campus), and profile photos.
• Group information — group names, housing intent, and budget ranges you set with your roommate groups.
• Messages — content of direct messages between matched students, group messages, and messages between student groups and landlords through the platform.
• Tour requests — property tour requests you submit, including timestamps and group information.

Information Generated by Your Use

• Swipe activity — profiles you like or pass on. This is used to generate matches and improve feed relevance.
• Match data — mutual likes between users that result in a match.
• Device information — device type, operating system, and app version for debugging and compatibility purposes.

Landlord Information

Landlords who submit property listings through our intake form provide their name, email, phone number, company name, and property details. This information is used to create their Lence account and list their property on the platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To verify your student status and create your account
• To match you with compatible roommates based on lifestyle, budget, and housing preferences
• To show you housing listings near your campus that match your group's budget and preferences
• To facilitate communication between matched students and between student groups and landlords
• To track tour requests and lease attribution for billing purposes
• To send transactional emails — OTP verification codes, tour request notifications, and lease confirmations
• To improve matching quality and platform performance
• To comply with legal obligations

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not share your information with advertisers. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

With Other Users

Your profile information — name, photo, major, graduation year, lifestyle preferences, and housing preferences — is visible to other verified students in your proximity on the roommate discovery feed. Your contact information is never shared directly with landlords. All landlord communication occurs through Lence's in-platform messaging.

With Service Providers

• Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure. Your data is stored on Supabase's servers.
• Resend — transactional email delivery for OTP codes and notifications.
• Stripe — payment processing for landlord lease fees. Student users are never charged.
• Expo / EAS — app build and distribution infrastructure.
• Cloudflare — website hosting and delivery.

For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lence, our users, or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as resolving disputes or preventing fraud.

Message history and tour request records are retained for up to 2 years for attribution and dispute resolution purposes.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
• Correction — update or correct inaccurate information through your profile settings or by contacting us
• Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format
• Opt-out of communications — unsubscribe from non-transactional emails at any time

7. Children's Privacy

Lence is intended for college and university students aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user under 18 has created an account, we will delete their information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at chalamar@lence.app.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), secure authentication via one-time passcodes, and row-level security policies on our database. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique email password and to contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

9. Student Verification

Lence uses your .edu email domain to verify student status. We do not access your university's student records, grades, or any information beyond what you voluntarily provide in the app. Unknown .edu domains are permitted through as unverified students — Lence does not gate access based on institutional partnerships.

10. California Privacy Rights

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. 11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Lence grows and evolves. We will notify users of material changes via email or in-app notification. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent update. Continued use of Lence after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
